The Greatest Meal Ever Cooked

Tom Colicchio, Michael Symon, Linton Hopkins, Jonathan Benno, Michael White, Christina Tosi, Rich Torrisi, and Mario Carbone…put them all together in a kitchen and you have the “Greatest Meal Ever Cooked.”

Hosted by Esquire Magazine, The Greatest Meal Ever Cooked was an historical culinary event with all proceeds benefiting the Mayor’s Fund’s efforts in providing relief for those affected by Hurricane Sandy. The venue for the dinner was at the beautiful Bowery Hotel in Manhattan.  It is very rare to have such an all-star cast of chefs cooking together and it brought out New York’s super-foodie crowd.  The dining room was charged with excitement in expectation of the dishes that were going to be coming out of the kitchen and we were behind the scenes and on the line to capture every moment.  What the guests could not see was this chef super-group in the  kitchen  all working together as one team to prep, cook, plate and deliver some of the most amazing food ever!  The kitchen was buzzing with great energy, intensity and passion which was reflected in the dishes that kept flowing into the dining room for hours.

Marinated Hamachi with Roasted Beets and Smoked Creme Fraiche

Second Course, Jonathan Benno
Candele e Tartufo Bianco, Baked Pasta Layered with Bechamel, Cardoons, White Truffle

Third Course, Michael White
Scallops with Butternut Squash Caponata and Black Truffles

Fourth Course, Linton Hopkins
Ash Roasted Pheasant, Hominy Grits, Crisp Kale, Perssimon-Bacon Marmalade and Chestnuts

Fifth Course, Michael Symon
Braised Beef Shank with Shaved Baby Carrots and Radishes

Dessert, Christina Tosi
Pear Sorbet, Pumpkin Ganache, Blue Cheese, Pickled Pear, Cornflake Crunch

Mihoko’s 21 Grams

What do you get when a philanthropist, art collector, and former ballerina decides to open a restaurant in NYC?  One of the most visually stunning spaces to be opened in NYC in a very long time, paired with cuisine that is innovative and inspiring – Mihoko’s 21 Grams.

We were invited for a cocktail reception by our friends at Jessica Aufiero Communications to sample what it happening at 21 Grams.  From the wonderfully creative cocktails, ridiculously delicious hors d’oeuvres and best sake ever, we were more than impressed.

This is just a quick peak into 21 Grams as we were invited back for the full experience.  So, keep watching and stay tuned for more!

VIDEO – Top Chefs Unite for Hurricane Sandy Relief

On Monday November 5, 2012, Top Chef alums Angelo Sosa (@AngeloASosa), Dale Talde (@DaleTalde), Kevin Sbraga (@KSbraga) and Jennifer Carroll (@ChefJenCarroll) joined forces at Sosa’s restaurant Añejo Tequileria in Hell’s Kitchen to raise money for victims of the hurricane that devastated the tri-state area.  The Men Who Dine got behind this very important event and the dinner was sold out.  We were there to capture and document the night in collaboration with our production company PF Films (@PFFilms1).

Top Chefs Unite to Raise Money for Hurricane Sandy Disaster Relief

Top Chef alum’s Angelo Sosa (@AngeloASosa), Dale Talde (@DaleTalde), Kevin Sbraga (@KSbraga) and Jennifer Carroll (@ChefJenCarroll) are joining forces this Monday night (November 5, 2012) at Sosa’s restaurant Añejo Tequileria in Hell’s Kitchen to raise money for victims of the hurricane that devastated the tri-state area. Each chef will scramble to create a unique dish in true Top Chef style in a four course tasting menu with cocktail accompaniment. Tickets are $100 each and all proceeds go straight to the Red Cross. There will be two seatings at 6 and 8PM. Additional cocktails will be available for sale at the event to raise additional money for relief efforts.
“The devastation from this storm is heart-wrenching,” explained Sosa, “and we are just trying to do what we can to help out.” Reservations can be made by calling Añejo at 212-920-4770, visiting the website’s reservation page at www.anejonyc.com or emailing rsvp@anejonyc.com.  We hope to see you there!
